Next weekend is Sedgefield’s yearly party.
So much to do and so little time. Jump, hop, skip, stroll, ride, fly, fling and laugh. Laugh loudly and outrageously as you you will do all this slowly. Very slow actually.
The third Slow Festival starts on the 5th of April and will s-l-o-w-l-y wind it’s leisurely way to the last day of the party on the 9th.
Yeah, right.
Three years ago Sedgefield became the first town in Africa to be admitted to the elite club of Cittaslow town all over the world. So one thinks the Sedgefielders, being the slow bunch they are, would go about a party slowly.
Yeah right.
Paragliding to gently float above the town and lakes.
The ultimate wacky boat race on Swartvlei.
Music trivia evening for all the has been hippies floating about.
Murder mystery dinner for Murder she Wrote fans.
Get dirty sprint race for the child in you.
Slow easter treasure hunt for everyone.
Float box derby for those still wanting to build a “seepkiskar”, but now one that floats. What fun…
Funky hair, slow art, fast feet, slow dining, sipping and slumbering.
I can’t wait for the town to be painted orange.
Come back in two weeks to see a photo essay with tongue firmly in cheek.
SEDGEFIELD FOR TOWN OF THE YEAR
It’s as if the town has just been discovered. December/January were the busiest two months in town ever (I think). Now there are folk who most probably don’t like that but the alternative is a dying town. We have to have a few weeks of economic input into the village every year.
Rapport and Kyknet organise a Town of the Year competition every year and past winners have included Dullstroom, Craddock, and Swakopmund so why on earth won’t Sedgefield be able to walk away with the accolades. And the rewards.
R1m worth of marketing from Kyknet and R1m worth of marketing from Rapport. We can seriously use that kind of mayor financial injection into our marketing efforts.
Good for property owners.
Please sms your vote to 33157 (R1.50) with the word SEDGEFIELD before 27 March 2012.
You could also win a Kia Picanto.
Good luck
